Fiat grande punto XXXXX XXXXX door gets stuck and wont. Customer Question. 2006 fiat punto 3 door drivers electric window not working power at switch.motor working with direct power.   Hi,
  My central locking is not working on one of my rear passenger doors.
  I have to open the drivers door and put my hand in to unlock it.
  It just stopped working. I have recently had a new battery put into the key fob, so can't be that.
  I don't mind taking it to the garage but if anyone knows of any quick fixes, please let me know.

  99% sure problem will be the central door locking solenoid which is part of the lock/latch,have on rare occasions seen a fault on wiring where it goes into the door ie rubbed through but i'm sure solenoid is the problem.

  Listen to the door and activate the self locking, if you can hear the solenoid clunking then it's probably the linkage, if no noise at all then as the above said it's probably the solenoid. No quick fixes unless your mechanically minded which you don't sound as you've had to ask the question, about an hour, hour and half labour plus parts to replace the unit.

  Some cars are now supplied with a 'lone driver' safety feature that cause the central locking to only operate the drivers door - this prevents a stranger from entering the car via the passenger door.
  THe battery change could have caused the system to default to this, if fitted to your car.
  Tried reading the manual???

  My dads Zafira has exactly the same problem - the drivers side rear door won't lock/unlock with the central locking.
  Just doing a bit of googling into the problem..

  I don't mean to hijack the thread, but I have a similar problem with my car, except that it's the boot that I can't open. I have a Fiat Grande Punto, and both the button on the dashboard and the button on the key fob are now failing to open to boot. When I press them I can hear the mechanism clicking and the indicators flash twice but nothing else happens. There is no keyhole on the boot door and the only lever inside to open the boot is behind the back seat!
  I'm going to book it in to get it fixed, it's still under warranty.
  Sorry to butt in, but I was just interested as the OP's problem sounds similar, albeit with a door rather than the boot.

  We have just purchased a 1999 Zafira and have the same problem - the driver's side rear door will not open. Actually, the door will not open at all with the central locking or manually. The lock is totally stuck down and I can't pull it up.
  Don't know if this is the same fault but please post if you find a solution!

  I've had a similar problem with my VW Bora but only when i lock the doors when i'm in the car when i use the fob is fine (thank god because i just know one day i'd leave the door unlocked!) I think the problem with mine is faulty wiring

  I think i know the problem with your locking, if you look at the bottom of the door you will see a rubber sheath which has wires inside that work various things, if you pull off from door of body and push sheathing up you will find a black and yellow wire amongst others which i suspect is broken due to bending when opening and closing of the door. simple as that!!!

  Door actuators are not necessarily solenoids.
  I had a problem with a Laguna where a rotary motor turns a geared collar round the spiral grooved nylon plunger that actuates the lock mechanism.
  The collar engages with the twin spiral via two spring loaded balls which then sacrificially pop out if the plunger meets with too much resistance.
  (Very much like the head mechanism on a floppy or a CD drive).
  The actuator would clunk pleasingly but not do a lot.
  Cleaning and lubricating the mechanical lock mechanism reduced the effort required and put the door back under the central locking regime.
