Acoustically Plant Robert Torrent Rating: 5,5/10 1055 votes

Product Information. Vocalist Robert Plant and guitarist Jimmy Page are without a doubt two of the most famous talents in rock music. Making their fame as two of the four members of the legendary rock group Led Zeppelin-and definitely the most visible-Page and Plant went on to successful solo careers. In 1994, fourteen years after the dissolution of Zeppelin, the two rock giants collaborated to write a few songs and perform on this wonderful video, NO QUARTER (UNLEDDED.) On both acoustic and electric instruments, including a mandolin and a banjo, the two men and a backing band perform seventeen tracks.

Robert Plant 1984-12-15. The Honeydrippers on Saturday Night Live - NBC Studios - New York, NY Dime/VideoTS (One Song - Rockin' At Midnight ) (Brian Setzer on Guitar).

Excellent performances of excellent songsI'm an old guy who went to one of their first U.S. Performances in 1969. Finding this gem is a fresh look at an awesome pair of musicians. I'm a music video addict and it's wonderful to find something I've never seen before. Seeing Robert & Jimmy interact with their supporting artists makes them a little less iconic and a little less intimidating, a little more on the plane of fellow humans, people you'd actually feel comfortable around given the opportunity.Verified purchase: Yes Condition: Pre-owned. What a shame!May as well be blunt but first my background so you know where I am coming from.

I am a HUGE Zeppelin Fan. Having said that, I am more than open to anything any of the members did after Led Zeppelin.

I had big expectations for this but was sorely disappointed. I got it cheap, under 5 bucks. It now resides in a landfill somewhere in Ohio. I actually threw it out I was so embarrassed for them!! In an effort to separate themselves from Led Zeppelin, one of the two (Plant?) really over did it.

With the exception of The Rain Song the songs on this disc bear almost no resemblance to Zeppelins masterpieces. Its full of weird sounds and rants and just is not zeppelinish in any way. So sad, they could have had something here. I heard JPJ was miffed when he wasn't aware of the tour but if thi s CD is typical of what the tour was like then they actually did him a favor.

Want that searing guitar work in Nobody's Fault But Mine? You wont find it here. Want that classic Kashmir riff? And the visual stuff?

Full of 'feel good' touchy feely BS. Told you I'd be blunt. Its just not there. I suffered through the whole thing, it was as painful as watching The Song Remains the Same movie, but at least with TSRTS you get GREAT music to go along with the horrendous 'fantasy sequences'.

If you are thinking of spending money on this I advise you to instead apply it to How The West Was Won. This provides MUCH better music. 'Celebration Day' DVD is awesome too.just avoid this one.Listened to and read a lot about the members after Zeppelins disbanding and it seems Plant really wanted to move on from Zeppelin. In a way he did, some of his solo stuff is amazing! Slow Dancer, 29 Palms, Big Log, In the Mood for a Melody to name a few, however I think he tried to move too far away with this DVD. I do wish Plant would just forget trying to 'move on'. The die is already cast, he could find the cure for cancer and be the one who actually delivers world peace but he would STILL be firstly known as the vocalist of Led Zeppelin.

He needs to realize that and stop fighting it! 20 years from now music listeners will be saying 'who is Allison Krauss? What is Band of Joy?' But everyone will still know who and what Led Zeppelin was. You don't owe anybody anything, but could you please do ONE last concert in the States with Jason and JPJ and Jimmy? Please before its too late?

The DVD 'No Quarter' is NOT what you want to be remembered by.Verified purchase: Yes Condition: Pre-owned. What a nice surprise THIS was!I was fortunate enough to see this disc before I ordered my own copy, but believe me, it is dynamite. Robert Plant and Jimmy Page take the songs of Led Zeppelin and play them acoustically for the most part but also in a different thrust than the original.

It's hard to put a word to it really. It's just so different than what you'd expect. And yet so tasty!Much of the playing is set in India and they use Indian musicians and instruments behind them. It creates a very listenable quality to what you are seeing and hearing. When you relax into it a bit, the songs begin to get to you at a different level. I've done quite a bit of foreground listening in my life where I'm really immersed in the music and this one gets to you. Some great art direction and cinematography help create a visua l atmosphere that matches the audio one nicely. And then there's those Zeppelin tunes. If you liked them as originally done, you'll very much enjoy this slightly different take on their original nature.

What I particularly liked was that they didn't change the songs so much that you lose what you loved about them in the first place. And as Martha Stewart would say, That's a good thing.

In 1968, a naïve young singer from the Black Country hills in England named Robert Plant was discovered wailing the blues by veteran session guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist/keyboardist John Paul Jones. When Plant recommended his friend John Bonham as the drummer, one of the most successful bands in rock history was born: Led Zeppelin. . But the group that started with such force also ended in flames after 12 years, as Bonham’s death from alcohol poisoning in 1980 split the band after nine albums. The remaining members went their separate ways, but Bonham’s death hit Plant particularly hard. Starting his solo career in 1982 with his Zeppelin-like Pictures at Eleven album, Plant would use a slew of great drummers over the next few years, including Phil Collins, Cozy Powell, Barriemore Barlow, and Richie Hayward. Collins appeared on the 1983 follow-up, The Principle of Moments, and Plant achieved a lighter touch somewhere between Genesis and Zeppelin’s quieter side with tracks like “In the Mood” and “Big Log.” But the singer would feed his Elvis Presley infatuation on 1984’s The Honeydrippers, Vol. 1, teaming with Page and other guests on influential roots rock material. ― Allmusic
